6 eggs 2/3 cup orange juice 1/3 cup orange liqueur 1/3 cup milk 1/4 teaspoon vanilla 1/4 teaspoon salt grated rind of one orange 8 or more slices, French bread-3/4" thick Beat the first 7 ingredients together. Pour half into a large flat baking dish or pan. Lay in the bread slices and pour in the remaining mixture to coat all of the bread surfaces. Cover and refrigerate over night. Bring to room temperature before cooking. Melt butter and a little vegetable oil in large skillet or sauté' pan. On med heat sauté bread slices 'til nicely browned on both sides. Sprinkle with confectioners sugar if desired. Serve with maple syrup or any fruit syrup and garnish with orange slices, strawberries or fruit of choice. close window |
